Peter and Kim run a successful specialty food organization from their 1950s ranch-style residence. But the kitchen where, more than the previous 15 years, they conceptualized, ready, and tested gourmet goodies, such as gingerbread and scones, was less than appetizing. The 17-by-13½-foot room, with its behind-the-times appliances and decor, was so retro that it appeared in numerous Television commercials because the quintessential old-school kitchen. To turn the region into a modern-day masterpiece, the couple, together with their daughters, Christie, 14, and Sarah, 11, known as upon our redo queen Candice Olson. "Food is their enterprise, but it's also their life," says Olson.
